Sam Lao is a multidisciplinary artist based in Dallas, Texas. Lao’s work has gone through different stages and genres, from mural design to the creation of textile pieces using tufting. Sam has innovated by making it possible for people viewing his exhibits to touch them, leaving behind the old adage “no touching” in art exhibitions. Lao has a youtube account. Lao has a youtube account where she teaches about tufting, making comparisons between materials such as fabric, glue, showing his studio and more.
Sam usually does beginners tufting workshops with a duration of six hours. This hours cover how to operate a cut pile tufting gun, how to set up a frame, how to tuft, finish and back the rug, you will leave with your final piece and knowing how to build a frame and a list of resources. All materials all included and lunch too!
